2024 Toyota RAV4: What's New and What's Not for the Popular SUV

2024 Toyota RAV4: What's New and What's Not for the Popular SUV

The Toyota RAV4 is one of the best-selling vehicles in the US, and for good reason. It offers a spacious and comfortable cabin, a smooth and efficient powertrain, and a variety of trim levels and features to suit different needs and preferences. The RAV4 also has a reputation for reliability and durability, making it a smart choice for long-term ownership.

But as the competition in the compact SUV segment heats up. The Japanese automaker has made some updates to the RAV4 for the 2024 model year, aiming to keep it fresh and appealing to new and loyal customers alike. Here's what you need to know about the 2024 Toyota RAV4.

New Color and Features

The most noticeable change for the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is the addition of a new exterior color option: Cavalry Blue. This vibrant hue replaces Lunar Rock as one of the available colors for the RAV4, giving it a more eye-catching and sporty look. Cavalry Blue is also offered on other Toyota models, such as the Toyota Tacoma and theToyota  4Runner.

Besides the new color, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 also has some new features across the trim levels. The base LE model now comes standard with LED fog lights and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adding more visibility and safety to the entry-level RAV4. The XLE model also gains LED fog lights, as well as heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support. These features were previously optional on the XLE.

The XLE Premium model gets a more significant upgrade, as it now includes the XLE Convenience Package as standard equipment. This package adds a power liftgate, a moonroof, and dual-zone automatic climate control to the XLE Premium, enhancing its convenience and comfort. The Adventure model also benefits from this package, as well as a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

The Limited model, which is the top-of-the-line RAV4, receives some minor changes as well. It now comes with a 10-inch color head-up display, which projects key information such as speed, navigation, and safety alerts onto the windshield. The Limited model also gets a new black interior option with brown accents, giving it a more premium and sophisticated feel.

No Changes to Powertrain or Pricing

While the 2024 Toyota RAV4 gets some cosmetic and feature updates, it does not get any changes to its powertrain or pricing. The 2024 RAV4 continues to offer two engine options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and a hybrid system that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 219 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and both are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The fuel economy ratings for the 2024 RAV4 are also unchanged from the previous model year. The gas-powered RAV4 achieves an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined for the front-wheel-drive models and 27 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined for the all-wheel-drive models. The hybrid RAV4 boasts an impressive EPA-estimated 41 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 40 mpg combined for both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models.

The pricing for the 2024 RAV4 is slightly higher than the 2023 model year, but not by much. The base LE model starts at $28,475 (including destination fee), which is $900 more than before. The XLE model starts at $30,575, which is $1,000 more than before. The XLE Premium model starts at $33,975, which is $1,400 more than before. The Adventure model starts at $36,180, which is $1,600 more than before. And the Limited model starts at $38,180, which is $1,600 more than before.

The hybrid models have similar price increases as well. The base LE Hybrid model starts at $30,375 (including destination fee), which is $900 more than before. The XLE Hybrid model starts at $32,475, which is $1,000 more than before. The XLE Premium Hybrid model starts at $35,875, which is $1,400 more than before. And the Limited Hybrid model starts at $40,080, which is $1,600 more than before.

Still a Strong Contender in the Compact SUV Segment

The 2024 Toyota RAV4 may not have any major changes, but it still remains a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. It offers a well-rounded package of performance, efficiency, space, features, and reliability that appeals to a wide range of buyers. The new color and features for the 2024 model year add some extra flair and value to the RAV4, making it even more attractive and competitive.

If you're looking for a versatile and dependable SUV that can handle your daily needs and occasional adventures, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 is worth checking out. You can find more information about the new RAV4 on Toyota's official website or visit your local Toyota dealer to see it in person.
