Acura, the luxury division of Honda, is entering the electric vehicle market with its first all-electric SUV, the ZDX. The ZDX is expected to arrive in early 2024, with two variants: the ZDX A-Spec and the ZDX Type S. The ZDX will compete with other luxury electric SUVs, such as the Tesla Model X, the Audi e-tron, and the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
What Makes the ZDX Different?
The ZDX is based on the Acura Precision EV Concept, unveiled in 2020. The ZDX features a sleek and futuristic design, a dramatic illuminated evolution of the Diamond Pentagon grille, a low and wide stance, and a coupe-like roofline. The ZDX also has 22-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and a panoramic glass roof.
The Acura ZDX is powered by an electric powertrain that delivers an estimated 500 horsepower and 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds for the ZDX Type S. The ZDX A-Spec has a single-motor configuration, while the ZDX Type S has a dual-motor configuration with torque vectoring. The ZDX has an anticipated range rating of 325 miles for the ZDX A-Spec, 315 miles for the ZDX A-Spec with dual-motor, and 288 miles for the ZDX Type S.
The ZDX also features a high-tech and luxurious interior, with a spacious and comfortable cabin that can accommodate five passengers. The ZDX has an 11-inch Precision Cockpit Digital Instrument Cluster and an 11.3-inch Color Touchscreen, which can be customized for a more personal connection with the vehicle. The ZDX also has the first integration of Google built-in for Acura, which provides a connected and personalized driving experience. The ZDX also has a wireless smartphone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and Google Assistant.
The Acura ZDX also offers an immersive audio experience, with a Bang & Olufsen sound system that makes its Acura premiere in the 2024 Acura ZDX. The ZDX also has advanced safety and driver-assist features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and collision mitigation braking.
How Much Does the ZDX Cost?
The ZDX and ZDX Type S are expected to be priced in the $60,000 and $70,000 range, respectively. The ZDX will also qualify for the federal tax credit of up to $7,500, as well as state and local incentives, depending on the location. The ZDX will also have lower maintenance and fuel costs than conventional vehicles, as electric vehicles do not require oil changes, spark plugs, or gas.
The ZDX is available for reservation now with a refundable deposit of $500. The ZDX will be delivered to customers in early 2024, through Acura dealerships across the US.
