Hyundai unveiled details about the Korean market's latest generation Kona compact SUV. More information on the worldwide model will be released in March this year. The 2023 Hyundai Kona is available with a variety of powertrains, including all-electric (EV), hybrid electric (HEV) and internal combustion engines (ICE), each with the option of sporty N Line equipment.

The development of the upscaled and futuristic all-new Kona began with the EV model, representing Hyundai Motor's expedited electrification goal. The all-new Hyundai KONA electric car is loaded with cutting-edge technology, including comfort and convenience features, in all models.

"With a variety of innovative powertrains and a slew of technologies and design elements that will offer value to our consumers' daily lives," said Heui Won Yang, Executive Vice President, Head of the Vehicle Development Tech Unit at Hyundai Motor Company. "Hyundai is committed to providing an optimum mobility experience that caters to our customers' diverse lifestyles."

The front and rear Seamless Horizon lighting provide the new vehicle with a cohesive and unique design for each version, from the shark snout to the tailgate. The Hyundai Kona electric car is defined differently by its Pixelated Horizon Lamps, which are the first Hyundai car to include this unique design element.

Powerful fender flares express the SUV's aggressive spirit with integrated front and rear lights, side panels with dynamic triangular proportions, and distinctive chrome formations running from the window line to the spoiler. The all-new Hyundai KONA has specifically designed 19-inch spoked wheels.

Several design aspects from the Hyundai Kona electric car are carried over to the ICE and HEV versions, although with a distinct twist. Instead of a radiator grille, the front bumper features three-dimensional cladding and a tail plate. The ICE and HEV variants have contrasting black fender flares for an even more powerful appearance.

Upper and lower active air flaps (AAF) are used in the HEV version, while an upper active air flap increases the drag coefficient in the ICE version. The outside active air flap gives the ICE and HEV an EV-like look while increasing both models' aerodynamic performance.

The N Line edition features a more aggressive front and rear design with a wing-shaped bumper, twin mufflers, and silver side skirts to enhance its sporty image. A black roof and 19-inch N Line-exclusive alloy wheels are available as options. Inside, the N Line model features special metal pedals and a gear lever (TGS) exclusive to the N brand.

The inside of the all-new Hyundai Kona is more spacious and adaptable, allowing for enhanced passenger comfort and convenient cargo storage. The all-new Hyundai Kona also has class-leading space, with a 60mm longer wheelbase, 77mm more legroom, and 11mm more headroom in the rear seat row than the previous version. The rear seat row shoulder room is 1,402 mm, which is also the best in its class, giving passengers the most space conceivable. The sleek and torsionally rigid KONA seats, which are only 85 mm thick, also provide more space for rear-row passengers.

Furthermore, the electronic gear selector in front of the steering wheel allows for a more spacious, open, and clean console structure that can be used instead for cup holders and bag storage. To fulfill customers' rising desire for greater cargo convenience, the fully foldable rear seat row, combined with the baggage compartment, gives up to 723 liters (based on SAE) of cargo capacity.

The integrated dual 12.3-inch screen promotes ergonomic and easy operation. At the same time, the comfy comfort seat in the front row is designed with "weightless" body pressure distribution to alleviate weariness during long-distance travel.

The new maintenance and system updates are now more accessible, thanks to electronic control technology and Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates. This means that automobile owners can save money by updating their vehicles with the latest software, resulting in a better driving experience. OTA maintenance updates and additional functions support the car's interior ambient lighting.

Customers will appreciate the customizable clever, electrically powered tailgate opening. Drivers can adjust the tailgate's opening height and speed using the infotainment system screen and by holding down the close button for three seconds at the chosen height of the tailgate.

Furthermore, KONA's built-in memory feature for seat adjustments, various charging connections, and the incorporated wireless charging system make for a more convenient experience. 2023 Hyundai Kona electric car may be secured, unlocked, and started through Digital Key 2 Touch, which uses near-field communication (NCF) in mobile phones and smart watches to ensure a high level of security.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Blind-spot View Monitor, and High Beam Assist are among the many Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) available on the new Hyundai Kona. It also has features that make driving more comfortable, including Smart Cruise Control, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, and Highway Driving Assist (HDA).

Surround View Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward/Side/Reverse Parking Distance Warning, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist are among the advanced technologies available for safe parking in the all-new Hyundai Hyundai.

The Hyundai Kona ICE variant is available to Korean consumers with either a 1.6T-GDi or a 2.0-liter Atkinson engine. The 1.6T-GDI engine produces an estimated 198 horsepower and up to 265 Nm of torque. A continuously variable valve timing system controls valve opening in response to driving circumstances. For maximum economy, the 2.0-liter engine delivers an estimated 149bhp and up to 179.5Nm of torque when partnered with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The Hyundai Kona HEV variant sold in Korea is driven by a specially calibrated 1.6-L GDi direct injection engine linked with an electric motor, delivering exceptional acceleration and economy with a combined output of 141 hp and up to 265 Nm of torque.
