The MINI Countryman E: A Stylish and Sustainable Electric Crossover for the Urban Jungle

MINI, the iconic British brand known for its fun and fearless driving, has unveiled its latest electrified model: the MINI Countryman E. The all-electric crossover SUV is making its North American debut at a panel discussion on the future of urban mobility hosted by URBAN-X, the startup accelerator founded by MINI, as part of Climate Week NYC. The event, held at Newlab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, featured experts from the automotive industry, urban planning, and the startup world, who shared their insights on how to transform transportation in the cities of tomorrow.

The MINI Countryman E is a perfect example of how MINI is combining its heritage of fun and fearless driving with a commitment to sustainability and innovation. The crossover SUV offers a spacious and premium interior, a distinctive design, and advanced technology, along with a zero-emission electric powertrain that delivers up to 308 horsepower and 240 miles of range. The Countryman E also supports fast charging at up to 130 kW, allowing drivers to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.

The Countryman E is available in two variants: the base E model, which has a single 201-horsepower electric motor on the front axle, and the more powerful S E ALL4 model, which has dual motors and all-wheel drive, producing 308 horsepower. The S E ALL4 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds, while the E model takes 8.6 seconds. Both models have a top speed of 120 mph.

The Countryman E is not only fast and fun but also smart and connected. It features a 9.4-inch OLED circular display that serves as the centerpiece of the dashboard, providing access to various functions and features. The display also shows the battery level, charging status, and driving modes, which include Sport, Mid, Green, and Green+. The Countryman E also comes with Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and a head-up display. The crossover SUV also has a range of driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and park assist.

Why Choose the MINI Countryman E?

The Countryman E is designed to be eco-friendly, not only in terms of its electric powertrain but also in terms of its materials and production. The crossover SUV has surfaces in the interior made of recycled polyester, and the light alloy cast wheels are made from up to 70% secondary aluminum. The Countryman E is also manufactured in Germany, using 100% green electricity.

The Countryman E is also a great choice for urban drivers who want to enjoy the benefits of electric mobility without compromising on space or style. The crossover SUV has a boot volume of 405 liters, which can be expanded to 1,275 liters by folding down the rear seats. The Countryman E also has a roof rail system that can accommodate various accessories, such as bike racks or ski holders. The Countryman E also has a panoramic glass roof that lets in natural light and creates a sense of spaciousness.

The Countryman E also reflects the brand’s distinctive personality and identity with its signature design elements and customization options. The crossover SUV has a hexagonal radiator grille with an illuminated MINI logo, as well as LED headlights and taillights with Union Jack motifs. The Countryman E also has a choice of eight exterior colors, including two exclusive shades: Island Blue metallic and Sage Green metallic. The Countryman E also has four different roof colors: black, white, silver, or body color.

When and How to Get the MINI Countryman E?

The MINI Countryman E is expected to go on sale in the US in the fall of 2024. The pricing has not been announced yet, but it is likely to be higher than the gasoline-powered Countryman, which starts at $29,600 (about €25,300). The Countryman E will compete with other electric crossover SUVs, such as the Tesla Model Y ($39,990), the Ford Mustang Mach-E ($42,895), the Hyundai Ioniq 5 ($37,500), and the Kia EV6 ($40,000).

The Countryman E is a significant step for MINI, as it aims to become an all-electric brand by 2030. The crossover SUV showcases the brand’s vision of combining locally emission-free mobility with the greatest possible environmental compatibility while maintaining its core values of fun, fearless, and distinctive driving. The Countryman E is a crossover SUV that can take on any terrain and any challenge with style and confidence.
