BMW is introducing its new electric car flagship – the battery version i7 – this year, alongside the latest iteration of the 7 Series. Several weeks before the BMW 7 Series's world launch, Head of Development Frank Weber unveiled facts about the vehicle. He promised "technological highlights" and a "one-of-a-kind interior experience comprised of digital elements and premium materials."
BMW intends to unveil the BMW i7 100% electric vehicle in April. The Bavarians promoted the event by publishing silhouettes of the front and inside. Additionally, the first data regarding the electric drive were published, indicating combined power consumption of 18.9 kWh/100 kilometers, which is relatively low for such a massive electric vehicle. The WLTP standard specifies a range of 580 to 610 kilometers. These are still projections depending on the stage of development at the time of writing.
The i7, according to BMW, is the world's first 100% electric premium sedan. On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz has been marketing an electric S-Class rival, the EQS, since 2021, which features a similar level of luxury and a range of well over 600 kilometers. On the other hand, BMW is sure of its new battery-electric top model. "Every component of the new BMW 7 Series is forward-thinking. The BMW 7 Series, more than any other car, symbolizes BMW's inventive spirit," Weber explains.
The BMW i7 100% electric sedan is the most powerful BMW 7 Series. It is the only vehicle that combines the finest driving experience with the ultimate digital experience. As a result, it is the appropriate vehicle for visionary, responsible decision-makers and pioneers.
The i7's distinctive design components, like the twin round headlamps and BMW iconic grille, have been reworked for a contemporary and present look consistent with the exterior design. In addition, the crystal glass top lighting components and the bright curve of the grille make a unique design statement.
BMW claims of the new 7 Series interior, "the emphasis is on a unique user experience produced by the new My Modes and the newest iteration of the iDrive operating system." My Modes provide exact coordination of driving characteristics and interior ambiance customization. Along with the BMW Curved Display, a new form of light and function bar in the instrument panel and door areas creates a visual and tactile experience that is both modern and special. BMW's Interaction Bar is built into ambient lighting and includes control buttons. Additionally, Sky Lounge's newly built panorama glass roof is illuminated by individually adjustable LED light threads.
BMW claims that the back of the i7 provides excellent travel comfort and establishes new entertainment benchmarks with its unique cinema experience. The back seats are transformed into a private movie lounge with the 31-inch diagonal, 32:9 panoramic display format, and 8K streaming quality screen that protrudes from the headliner.
