The Polestar 3 electric SUV is anticipated to hit Norwegian roads by the end of 2023. Still, on November 16, car enthusiasts will get a sneak peek at the Swedish electric car maker's flagship model.
"After the extremely good welcome Polestar has received in Norway, we are looking forward to revealing what we feel is the car that defines the SUV for the electric age," says Alexander Hørthe, general manager of Polestar Norway.
More than 10,000 Polestar 2 electric cars have been sold in Norway since the Swedish automaker's launch there less than three years ago. When the Polestar 3 came out last month, it probably didn't come as much of a surprise that many Norwegians ordered a new car ahead of time.
From November 16–21, you can check out the Polestar 3 electric SUV on exhibit at the Polestar Space Center in Oslo.
Polestar's third vehicle is an all-around sporty SUV with five seats, a long-range, and Volvo Cars' industry-leading safety systems. The sportier seating position, lower roofline, front wing, rear wing, and rear air blades give the car a better aerodynamic shape.
Polestar's new Dual Blade headlights and SmartZone are just two examples of how the company has reimagined the car's exterior. The grille that used to let air into the engine is gone. In its place is a design focus area with radar, a camera, and other sensors to improve the car's ability to see around it.
An adaptive two-chamber air suspension system, a dual-motor setup that sends most of the power to the rear wheels, a dual-clutch electronic torque-splitting setup in the rear, and a function that can disengage the rear engine to extend the vehicle's range are all standard on the launch models. Standard features include the Pilot and Plus packages, while the Performance package adds even more sporty touches.
"Polestar 3 is a powerful electric SUV that appeals to the senses with a clear, Scandinavian style and great driving dynamics," says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.
Volvo Cars is developing a shared all-electric technology platform, and the first vehicle to use it will be the Polestar 3. The date the order books were made public was October 12, 2022. The initial shipment is anticipated to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2023.
