Volkswagen Group recently completed a midterm review of its worldwide network of fast charging stations. Approximately 15,000 ultra-fast chargers with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW will be connected to the network by the end of 2022, representing more than a third of the 45,000 charging sites the business aims to construct. To promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, the firm and its allies declared on Power Day 2021 that they would establish a worldwide network of ultra-fast chargers free of charge to their customers. The strategy calls for approximately 10,000 fast charging stations to be operational in Europe and up to 25,000 globally by the end of 2023.
"Numerous years ago, the Volkswagen Group initiated plans for a worldwide system of fast chargers. Our 15,000 rapid charging stations across North America, China, and Europe solidify our position as an industry leader in electric mobility. This results from our teamwork with other companies and organizations in the energy and industrial sectors. Charging is essential for e-mobility, but we also see it as a promising future strategic business area. We hope to add more features and functionality down the road."
Audi, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, and Porsche are partners in IONITY, a company that installs fast charging stations around Europe. Additionally, the group stated last year that they would be forming a joint venture in Italy with Enel X Way, a part of the Enel Group. In addition to working with BP and Iberdrola to set up rapid charging stations, the Volkswagen Group is doing the same thing. They want to deploy roughly 8,000 rapid charging stations around Europe in conjunction with BP. The Flexpole fast charging station, made by Volkswagen Components, is one of the features of this system. The organization works with Iberdrola to protect major thoroughfares in Spain. Electrify America, the largest public fast-charging network in North America, is in charge of expanding the organization's electrical infrastructure in the United States. CAMS, a Chinese joint venture business, is responsible for this operation in that country. At Power Day, Volkswagen Group revealed that by 2025, the firm and its partners will have installed 18,000 HPC charging points in Europe, 10,000 in North America, and 17,000 in China.
Volkswagen's brand-specific charging services are the answer when charging your electric car at home or elsewhere in Europe. Each site will include more details regarding the service and pricing plans for the various contracts. As expected, Volkswagen tariffs are provided with the same standard terms and rates everywhere.
"Ultimately, we want everyone to enjoy the convenience of electric transportation. What we have accomplished, along with our powerful allies, speaks volumes about the efficacy of our plan. With your help, we can make future transportation more accessible and environmentally friendly ".
