The new Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck arrives in 2023

From the beginning of 2023, Dachser in Magdeburg will be using a Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck. There are 18 pallet spaces and a gross vehicle weight of 27 tons, meaning the vehicle can be used in two-shift operations. Professional drivers will operate the truck after completing their education at Dachser this year. After daytime testing in Magdeburg, the FCEV truck heads to the Dachser branch in Berlin's Schönefeld district at night in system traffic to complete its journey. A tandem swap body trailer is used to operate the emission-free vehicle at night.

The Hyundai Xcient FCEV truck was featured in a hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle logistics roadshow through eleven German cities in December of 2021 by H2 Green Power & Logistics GmbH, which also owns the sales company for this vehicle.

Enginius—a subsidiary of the Faun Group—will supply Dachser with the Bluepower 1938 FCEV truck for city center deliveries in Hamburg from mid-2023.

DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery, a locally emission-free delivery concept that will begin in Hamburg in the autumn of 2022, will then be complemented by the truck.
The Bluepower 1938 FCEV truck has a maximum weight of 19 tons and can carry 18 pallets of goods in its fixed box body.
This vehicle's estimated range of 250 kilometers plus reserves is ideal for city center deliveries. In Hamburg's HafenCity, there is a hydrogen filling station.

We have already worked out the significant potential of hydrogen trucks in Dachser's European general cargo network as part of a study with the Kempten University of Applied Sciences," explains Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) and member of the Dachser Management Board.

As soon as the first two hydrogen trucks in the Dachser fleet are serviced, we will be able to gain valuable hands-on experience. As a family-owned business in Kempten, Germany, Dachser specializes in air and sea logistics as well as road logistics, as well as customer-specific services.

Dachser European Logistics and Dachser Food Logistics are the two business lines that comprise the rest of the company's operations. Additional industry-specific solutions complete the range of contract logistics services the company offers. Integrated information systems and a comprehensive European and intercontinental transport network ensure intelligent logistics solutions worldwide.

Dachser's consolidated net sales in 2021 are expected to be around 7.1 billion euros, with approximately 31,800 employees in 376 locations worldwide. Dachser has national subsidiaries in 42 countries around the world.

By road, rail, pipeline, and inland waterways, H2 Green Power & Logistics GmbH sells green hydrogen derived from in-house green electricity generated in Magdeburg using photovoltaics, wind, and biomass for H2 electrolysis. Green hydrogen in CO2-free commercial vehicle mobility in a pay-per-use model or in a purchasing association, and later for large stationary customers, is one of the first market participants to offer a complete ecosystem.
