Genesis, the luxury brand of Hyundai Motor Group, has been making waves in the automotive industry with its ambitious electrification plans and stunning design language. The brand recently launched its third electric vehicle, the Genesis Electrified GV70, which is also the first Genesis model to be assembled in the United States in Montgomery, Alabama. This marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands its presence and portfolio in the US market, aiming to compete with established luxury players like Tesla, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 is based on the award-winning GV70 platform, which debuted last year as a gasoline-powered compact luxury SUV. The Genesis GV70 has received rave reviews for its striking exterior styling, spacious and luxurious interior, refined performance, and advanced technology features. The Electrified GV70 builds on these strengths by adding an all-electric powertrain that delivers 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, a 77.4 kWh battery pack that provides an EPA-estimated range of 236 miles, and a host of technologies designed exclusively for electric vehicles.
One of these technologies is the 400/800V multi-charging system, which allows the Genesis Electrified GV70 to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes using a rapid charger. This means that drivers can enjoy more time on the road and less time at charging stations. Another technology is the vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature, which enables the Genesis Electrified GV70 to supply power to external devices or appliances using a 110-volt outlet. This can be useful for camping trips, tailgating parties, or emergencies.
The GenesisElectrified GV70 also boasts a high level of safety and convenience features that are standard across all Genesis models. These include a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that help prevent or mitigate collisions, such as forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, highway driving assist II, smart cruise control with stop and go, and more.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 also comes with Genesis Connected Services, which offers remote access and control of various vehicle functions via smartphone app or voice command. Additionally, Genesis offers complimentary maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, Genesis Service Valet for pickup and delivery service appointments, SiriusXM All Access for three years, multimedia and navigation updates for three years, 24/7 enhanced roadside assistance for five years or unlimited miles, and Genesis Concierge for personalized shopping services.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 is available in two trim levels: Advanced AWD and Prestige AWD. The Advanced AWD starts at $65,850 (plus a $1,125 destination charge) and includes features such as leatherette seats with heating and ventilation functions, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a wireless smartphone charger, a Lexicon premium sound system with 21 speakers, a hands-free smart liftgate, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 Prestige AWD starts at $72,650 (plus a $1,125 destination charge). It adds features such as Nappa leather seats, a head-up display, a surround-view monitor, a blind-spot view monitor, an augmented reality navigation system, a digital key system, a solar roof that generates electricity from sunlight, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
The Electrified GV70 is currently available in 15 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. As Genesis expands its dealer network and infrastructure, more states will be added in the future.
The Genesis Electrified GV70 is a testament to Genesis' vision of becoming a leader in luxury electrification by 2030. The brand has committed that all new models launched will be all-electric starting in 2025 and that its entire vehicle lineup will be electric by 2030.
Genesis is also working to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations by 2035. With its impressive combination of style, performance technology and value, the Genesis Electrified GV70 is shaping the future of luxury EVs and setting a new standard for what customers can expect from Genesis.
