  • Volkswagen

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is one of the most anticipated electric vehicles of the next few years. It's a modern reinterpretation of the iconic VW Microbus, with a spacious interior, a versatile design, and a futuristic look. But it's not just a nostalgia trip: the ID. Buzz is also a cutting-edge vehicle that promises impressive performance, efficiency, and technology.

The ID. Buzz is part of Volkswagen's ambitious plan to launch a whole range of electric vehicles based on its modular MEB platform. The MEB platform allows for different body styles, battery sizes, and powertrain configurations, making it adaptable to various customer needs and preferences. The ID. Buzz will be the fourth model in the ID. family.

What Makes the ID. Buzz So Special?

The ID. Buzz is not just another electric van. It's a vehicle that combines the best of both worlds: the charm and character of the classic Microbus and the innovation and convenience of modern EVs.

Some of the features that make the ID. Buzz electric minivan stand out are:

  • Its retro-futuristic design: The ID. Buzz pays homage to the original Microbus with its boxy shape, round headlights, two-tone paint scheme, and sliding doors. But it also adds some futuristic touches, such as LED lighting, a panoramic glass roof, and a sleek dashboard with minimal buttons and knobs.
  • Its spacious and versatile interior: The ID. Buzz offers plenty of room for passengers and cargo, thanks to its long wheelbase and flat floor. It can seat up to eight people in three rows of seats or up to four people with a foldable table in the middle row. The seats can also be rotated, reclined, or removed to create different layouts. The cargo area can accommodate up to 162 cubic feet of luggage with all seats folded down.
  • Its high-tech features: The ID. Buzz is packed with advanced technology that enhances safety, comfort, and entertainment. It has a head-up display that projects information on the windshield, a digital cockpit that shows key data on a 10-inch screen behind the steering wheel, and an infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a voice assistant that responds to natural language commands and an augmented reality navigation system that overlays directions on the road ahead.
  • Its impressive performance: The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is expected to offer two battery options: a 62-kWh pack that provides an estimated range of 200 miles and a 111-kWh pack that boosts the range to 340 miles. It will also have two powertrain options: a rear-wheel-drive setup that produces 201 horsepower from a single electric motor and an all-wheel-drive setup that delivers 302 horsepower from two electric motors. The ID. Buzz will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about five seconds and reach a top speed of 99 mph.
  • Its smart driving features: The Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be one of the first vehicles to feature Volkswagen's IQ.Drive system, which enables semi-autonomous driving on highways. The system uses cameras, radar, lidar, and ultrasonic sensors to monitor the surroundings and control the steering, braking, and acceleration of the vehicle. The driver can activate the system by pressing a button on the steering wheel, which then retracts into the dashboard when not in use.

How Much Will It Cost?

The 2023 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is expected to go on sale in early 2023. The pricing has not been announced yet, but it will likely be competitive with other electric vans on the market.

One of the advantages of buying an electric vehicle is that you can save money on fuel and maintenance costs over time. You can also benefit from various incentives and rebates offered by federal and state governments for EV buyers.

For example, Volkswagen recently announced attractive private leasing prices for the ID. Buzz, you can lease one for as low as $750 with no down payment.
