DFDS, the largest sea freight and logistics company in northern Europe, and Volvo Trucks are starting a collaboration to electrify heavy transport. As a first step, DFDS will use a fully electric truck to deliver parts to Volvo Trucks' factory in Tuve. This initiative is an important milestone in being able to build a fossil-free supply chain for AB Volvo.
Volvo Trucks recently announced the start of sales for three new heavy-duty electric trucks. One of them is Volvo FM Electric, which DFDS will be one of the first to run in commercial traffic. After the summer, the truck will deliver parts to Volvo Trucks' factory in Tuve. To begin with, the truck will run a route of just over 120 kilometres per day.
AB Volvo is one of the world's largest manufacturers of trucks and other vehicles - and thereby also a major transport buyer themselves. The goal is to create a fossil-free supply chain.
To secure the future of its investment, DFDS has decided to build the most powerful charging station on the market at its home terminal in Gothenburg. It will have a capacity of 350 kW.
With the start of sales of three new heavy-duty trucks - Volvo FH, FM and FMX - Volvo Trucks now has an impressive line-up of six medium-heavy and heavy electric trucks. It is currently the most complete commercial electrified range in the industry.
