Dacia Spring is a rising star in numerous European markets

By Electric Cars, 19 December, 2021
Dacia Spring

The new Dacia Spring electric car climbed to first place in the sales of electric vehicles in France in November, but in Germany or Spain, it is far from the top of the ranking. After many years, the model that changed the monthly leader of the Romanian car market, surpassing even the best-seller Logan, records mixed results on the big European markets. Nevertheless, in November, Dacia Spring electric car became the absolute leader of the Romanian car market, with 1,195 units, surpassing by 110 units the older brother and the former leader, Dacia Logan.

In Romania, where it occupies first place in the general sales ranking in November and the hierarchy of the electric car, Dacia Spring climbed dizzyingly in the sales ranking in France. With no less than 2,895 units registered in November 2021, the Dacia electric model produced in China became the market leader in Hexagon electric cars, surpassing Renault ZOE (2,189 units) and Tesla Model 3 (1,500 units).

In Italy, UNRAE (Unione Nazionale Rappresentanti Autoveicoli Esteri) data show that Dacia Spring is in the fifth position in the sales of electric cars. With 416 units registered in November, the electric model of the Dacia brand is surpassed by the Smart ForTwo (543 units) Volkswagen e-Up! (570 units), Renault Twingo (656 units) and, of course, the leader Fiat 500 Electric (946 units).

Dacia Spring has modest sales in Spain and Germany. If in France, Romania, and Italy, the first electric model Dacia has excellent chances to be at the top of the registrations of electric cars at the end of 2021, in Spain, the result in November is not at all at the level of expectations.

Data from ANFAC (Asociación Española de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones) show that in November, the Dacia Spring was registered in only 62 copies, a value that places the model on the 21st place in a Spanish ranking of the electric car market led by Tesla Model 3 (239 units), Peugeot e-208 (225 units) and Kia e-Niro (209 units).

In Germany, the strongest European market, the Dacia Spring electric car was registered in November in 657 units, well below the values obtained by the cars in the Top 10 of the market segment. Thus, if Spring occupies the 21st position in the sales of electric cars in Germany, the first places are occupied, in order by Renault Zoe (4,200 units), Tesla Model 3 (3,825 units), Volkswagen e-Up! (2,477 units), smart fortwo (1,808 units) and Tesla Model Y (1,787 units).

Deliveries of the Dacia Spring electric cars started at the end of September this year, with most registrations taking place in October and November. However, like most car manufacturers, Dacia is struggling to supply semiconductors and other components, and transportation from China's assembly line to Europe is also affected by the problems of the global shipping network.
